We are actively seeking a permanent, full-time Senior Microsoft Network Engineer/Administrator to provide software and hardware computer consulting to association, nonprofit, and foundation clients in the DC metro area. This is a great position for an MCSE professional wanting regularly changing and challenging situations. The position requires great oral and written communication skills, including strong telephone communication skills, and a professional appearance. Requires daily travel to different client locations within the DC metro area.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with Microsoft LANs and working with multi-server environments
- MCSE 2003 or greater required
- Recent hands-on experience with Windows server 2003 and 2008, Exchange Server 2003 and 2007, and workstation (XP, Vista, Windows 2007) environments is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED
- Must have proficiency with Active Directory, domain controllers, IP addressing, DNS, VPNs, remote access, and strong diagnostic skills
- Recent experience building, migrating, and/or upgrading Windows Server, Exchange Servers, Citrix Metaframe, Windows Terminal Server, Firewalls (e.g. Watchguard, Sonicwall, CISCO) is highly desired
- Ability to independently perform and/or manage, from start to finish, small to medium network projects such as network upgrades and network installs – includes providing direction to other engineers who may be supporting the project
- Experience in large network environments with the willingness to also work in small offices
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
- Project management and previous consulting experience with small and medium sized businesses and associations preferred
- Practical experience with Linux and Apple a plus; experience with Blackberry preferred
- Truly excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Professional attitude and commitment to providing high-quality service
- Background and skills should include deployment, maintenance, and diagnostic experience with the following technologies:
- VoIP
- Virtualization (VMWare preferred)
- Microsoft Exchange 2000, 2003, and 2007 (2010 a plus)
- Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, and 2008R2 with Active Directory
- DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- VLANs and typical network switch configurations
- Firewalls and routers
- Backup Exec
- SQL Server experience preferred, but not mandatory
- Wireless networking
