Being a CIO in the Association Community
Come discuss the challenges and opportunities of being a CIO in the association community. Limited to eight participants this roundtable discussion will be a unique experience for you to get away from your office and think. Topics covered will be budgeting process, staff management challenges, dealing with governance issues, and the never ending cycle of technology upgrades.
Usability Testing for Your Web Site
We will review the principles of web usability testing, different tools and methods used for each, and pros and cons of each method. We will also use a selected method to test key functions on participants’ Web sites. When participants leave the class they will understand the value of usability testing and develop a testing plan for their site.
Small Associations Need AMSes Too!
This session will focus on the selection of an association management system for smaller organizations and will include a briefing on vendors best suited to working with you.
For maximum interaction and exchange of information, this session is limited to twelve participants.
Hosting: What does it mean, and is it for your organization?
We all hear the term thrown around from time to time “hosting” but what does it really mean and what value does hosting present to your organization. During this seminar, we’ll explore the world of hosting and the multitude of options and related costs. Join the discussion to share hosting configurations and learn how others are fulfilling business continuity requirements and availability needs by hosting.
Content Management Systems – Which, How, and Why.
Looking at content management systems can be confusing. What are the key success factors when considering which content management system to implement? How do you go about selecting and managing the implementation process? Where have we seen organizations run into trouble? And most importantly, why do you even need a content management system? These and other questions will be answered during this free lunch-time seminar.
AMS and Everything Else: How Do They All Fit Together?
In terms of software applications, the AMS is generally the “master of the universe.” But the organization has other, mission critical systems – such as the Web site, content management, financial management, abstract management – not to mention third party services such as meeting registration, expo management, and fulfillment. How do all these pieces fit together? What comes first, the AMS or the content management system? Should you try to get an AMS that does “everything” for you or is “best of breed” the way to go?
Virtualization: The Value Proposition, Is It Right For Your Organization?
As virtualization has matured, it’s become a viable alternative to having the old standard of one hardware based server per system function. Come here about the new technology around virtualization, the cost savings, and myriad of possible configurations. We’ll discuss how virtualization can be a cost effective way of tackling the high availability and business continuity needs of the organization. If you're struggling to determine if you should purchase the standard servers, blade servers, or leverage virtualization, this seminar will help.
Pulling IT All Together
What drives your information technology planning process? What is the relationship between the IT plan and your organization’s strategic plan? Get away from the office and spend some time talking about planning with your peers and DelCor. We will share our thoughts on the key attributes of a comprehensive IT plan. As we all know, technology isn’t all technical and as leaders in our organizations we need to help others see how their goals can be assisted through technology as well as how their decisions can impact technology decisions.
The Ten Things You Must Do When Selecting an AMS
Aside from the purchase of a building, an AMS is the largest expenditure your organization is likely to ever make. It’s a tricky business, though, with its high visibility and potential “gotchas.” In the process of due diligence, there are some essential steps and considerations that could make the difference between making the right or wrong choice. With a maximum of ten attendees, this interactive session will focus on the often overlooked, critical aspects of an AMS selection and will highlight real life scenarios.
Web Site Planning – Too Often Overlooked
Share your story and hear how your peers have handled their Web site planning and development efforts. Also, DelCor will share its insights in the keys to success and the process by which organizations can craft a sound and actionable Web site plan that ties into the organization’s strategic and business objectives.
AMS Implementation Project Management: Keeping the Spiral Going Upwards
This interactive session has been developed to help prevent your AMS implementation from spiraling downwards to a state of staff apathy, vendor resentment, loss of productivity and a general negative attitude towards your AMS. With attendance limited to ten people, we will be able to focus on tasks and tips that will ensure implementation success and a positive attitude towards your AMS.
